Welcome to Dansen English Springer Spaniels!
Due to the death of Dr. Daniel Sena on August 31, 2018, there will be no future Dansen litters. This site is maintained as a memorial in honor of his over 40 years breeding Springer Spaniels.
His breeding lives on in ESS lines in several countries. Please look for a reputable BERP English Springer Spaniel Breeder via the ESSFTA website.
As a dentist with genetics education from Texas A&M University, I primarily bred for myself. However, I have also pursued my passion for English Springer Spaniels since I was a child. I have been a breeder, exhibitor, and owner of English Springer Spaniels since the late 60’s when I was awarded the National 4-H Dog Care and Training Scholarship.
I was the first AKC Breeder of Merit for English Springer Spaniels in the State of Texas and I am an AKC and International Kennel Club conformation judge.
I am also a member of the DFW Judges Association, the Dog Show Judges Association, English Springer Spaniel Field Trail Association, the San Antonio English Springer Spaniel Club, and a BERP (Breeder Education Referral Program) Member.
Dansen English Springer Spaniels are bred with an emphasis on temperament, soundness, and health. All dogs in my breeding program are OFA certified against hip dysplasia, CERF slit lamp tested for blindness and cataracts, and temperament tested.
Dansen Springers are eager to please. These dogs are used in therapy, agility, obedience, and can wing birds in the field. Dansen Spaniels that have participated in Conformation Shows have won Best of Breed in many countries, including Switzerland, Finland, Thailand, Canada, Mexico, South Africa, and the United States.
My first bred champion, Ch. Dansen’s Heir of Distinction, won the Specialty at the El Paso English Springer Spaniel Association Show in 1974, winning Winner’s Dog, Best Of Winners, and Best of Breed.
Dansen dogs which have won at the American Spaniel Club Winner include Ch. Jubilee’s Dansen Arpege – Winner’s Bitch/ Best Of Winners at 6-9 months and 2002 Winner’s Dog Ch. Dansen’s Durazno. While winning majors at The American Spaniel Club have been my biggest honors in the breed ring, This bitch was a direct descendant of Ch. Salilyn’s Aristcrat, Ch. Salilyn’s Classic, down the pipe to Ch. Salilyn’s Dynasty and Ch. Salilyn’s Happy Birthday.
Other Dansen winners include Ch. Dansen’s Jubilee Companion, Ch. Dansen’s Jubilee Etain Wyngait, Ch. Dansen’s Contessa, and Ch. Dansen’s Freedom who won at the National Specialty (ESSFTA) and local host club specialties.
Ch. Dansen’s Xavier, finished at 15 months old in the Spring of 2014 with Winner’s Dog/ Best of Winner’s/ Best of Breed wins and a Winner’s Dog/ Best of Winners wins at the DFW Specialty in Ft. Worth from the classes over existing specials. His dam, GCH Dansen’s Whilhelmina, won Select Bitch in San Antonio in 2014, becoming a Grand Champion.
CH Dansen’s Kayndee Firefly to the Extreme owned by Ann and Roger Hulsey, finished her championship February 2015 handled by Howard Huber. Dansen’s XOXO won her championship May 2015 handled by Terri Galli and Robert Chaffin. both are daughters of GCH Dansen’s Whilhelmina and sired by CH Arggow Dansen Frankenstein.
